Dr. Lopez earned her Doctoral of Psychology Degree (Psy.D.) in Clinical Psychology from Regent University in Virginia Beach, VA. She earned her Master’s of Science Degree (M.S.) in Counseling Psychology as well as her Bachelor’s of Arts (B.S.) in Psychology from Palm Beach Atlantic University in West Palm Beach, FL.
Dr. Lopez completed her pre-doctoral internship at the Institute for Child and Family Health, previously known as the Children’s Psychiatric Center, in Hialeah, FL. She provided bilingual services including: individual therapy with adolescents, play therapy with children, psychological and psycho-educational evaluations, parent support and education, group therapy and psycho-educational groups for children who recently immigrated to the United States. In addition, she participated in a consultation rotation with the Neurodevelopmental Clinic at the Miami Children's Hospital and provided clinical conceptualization and treatment recommendations for children and adolescents presenting with ADHD and Pervasive Developmental Disorder symptomatology.
Dr. Lopez completed her post-doctoral residency at the Center for Adolescent Treatment Services (CATS), a Statewide Inpatient Psychiatric Program (SIPP) affiliated with the Citrus Health Network in Hialeah, FL. During her time at CATS, Dr. Lopez provided clinical services (individual and group therapy, crisis intervention, psycho-educational programming) for adolescent males and females in need of intervention due to severe emotional and behavioral difficulties. She collaborated with external agencies (Social Workers, Guardian Ad litem, Probation Officers) and the multidisciplinary team (psychiatrists, nurses, case workers, occupational and behavioral therapists). She also provided clinical treatment overview and progress during Dependency and Department of Juvenile Justice court hearings in the Broward and Dade county courthouses.
Dr. Lopez obtained her license to practice independently in 2009 and began providing bilingual clinical services to the geriatric population in Assisted Living Facilities (ALF) and Skilled Nursing Facilities (SNF) in both Broward and Dade counties. In 2010, she began working in a private practice providing individual therapy for children to adults and psycho-educational testing for students from preschool to college. In 2011, she obtained privileges at Memorial Regional Hospital (MRH) and Memorial Regional Hospital South (MRHS) in Hollywood, FL as a consultant with the Neuropsychology and Rehabilitation Psychology departments on both hospital campuses. She provided clinical services (supportive therapy, provision of clinical treatment overview with interdisciplinary team, cognitive screens, family education and support) in the Trauma ICU at MRH and now primarily provides clinical services in the Memorial Rehabilitation Institute at MRHS for patients and families undergoing inpatient medical rehabilitation. She currently is working independently in private practice, Vive La Vie, in Ft. Lauderdale, FL.
Dr. Lopez has several years of experience working within vastly ranging environments from Elementary Public Schools, Department of Juvenile Justice facilities, Community Mental Health agencies, Statewide Inpatient Psychiatric Programs for adolescents, Hospital Traumu ICU, Hospital Inpatient Rehabiliation Facility, Assisted Living Facilities, Skilled Nursing Homes and in Private Pratice.
She has and continues to work with individuals from multi-cultural backgrounds ranging in age from pre-school years to the geriatric population in addressing a myriad of personal and relational issues including anxiety, depression, behavioral difficulties, ADHD, bereavement and loss, major life transitions, relational conflict, medical illness, schizophrenia, sexual abuse and post-traumatic stress.
